Top Award for Holiday Cottages - Man behind scheme is award winner
 Paul Cartmell and Adrian McNicholas plan to develop the Weddicar site, having been granted planning permission last week.
And it marked a double celebration for Mr Cartmell, as his firm CEMAC Construction was awarded the Best Small Builder Award at the recent LABC Northern Region Building Excellence Awards.
The award was given for CEMAC’s work on Westlakes Holiday Cottages, a development of two residential and seven holiday homes at Mill Hill Farm, Cleator Moor.
Whitehaven-based firm Jackson’s Timber Ltd was the developer on the project, which took 18 months to complete, and was run with the support of Copeland Borough Council.
The regional award was presented to the team at a special ceremony in Newcastle “for recognition of high standards of construction and workmanship”.
They will now go forward to the national awards ceremony in London later this year.
